Relationship Advice!

Relationship Problem:

Can you help me, I am 45 years old and had a male friend who told me that he had deep feelings for me and I said that I liked him as a special friend and that we should keep any relationship as friends as I am married. (Even though I have a rocky marriage over the past three years and did not say it to him and he does not know.) This was two years ago and now I am having second thoughts about this friend as I dream of him from time to time and I know from a friend he is still interested in me – for more than just friends. What should I do?

Relationship Advice:

Run, don’t walk to your nearest relationship counselor! What you need to explore before anything else is whether your marriage is viable. You say it’s been rocky for the past three years which creates a natural breeding ground for being attracted to attention from someone else. If you get your marriage back on track you can have it all.

If you go down the other road now, you are headed for confusion, guilt, someone getting hurt (possibly you, as you’ve only heard of his interest from a third party and don’t know how available or interested this person is in making a commitment.)

If you exhaust all possibilities of salvaging your marriage, that’s the time to end it and walk away. That way it’s clean and your husband feels the marriage failed due to irreconcilable differences as opposed to being ‘replaced‘.
